" I asked my friend Greg Robbins to help me. His contract in another division at Apple had just ended, so he told his manager that he would start reporting to me. She didn't ask who I was and let him keep his office and badge. In turn, I told people that I was reporting to him. Since that left no managers in the loop, we had no meetings and could be extremely productive. "

"Read books are far less valuable than unread ones. The library should contain as much of what you do not know as your financial means, mortgage rates, and the currently tight real-estate market allow you to put there"

Well I'm off to Maud's in an hour or two, then in the morning we're off and up in th air until Thursday when we land in Auckland in time for Easter. I've just spent the last hour or two catching up on uploading the last month or two of photos I have taken because I imagine I will have a metric shit-tonne to deal with when I get back.

hoooo. Am I packed? Have I forgotten anything? No stress, no stress.

 So.
At the beginning of this year I decided to attempt one of those 365 photo memes taht go round in various forms. Basically to take one picture I liked every day for teh whole year. I am shit at resolutions and thought that maybe setting something with a definite end date might help my resolve. provately, I was sceptical. I figured I maybe had about 8 days before I fucked it up.

I underestimated some. It was 46 days before i missed one. I forgot to take my camera with me that day, but I have no excuse, because when I got home I talked to my sister about her uploading two photos from earlier days I had sent to her phone (they were taken at times I didn't have my camera and I've lost the cable for my phone). ADRIENNE UPLOAD THOSE GODDAMN PHOTOS, WENCH.

But you know, it's like alcoholism. One day at a time leads one up the path of wonders. It just has to be 365 days, not necessarily a calendar year, so I git back on the horse.

And fell off again a week later.

I'm feeling disproportionately irritated and depressed by this. I still think it's an achievable goal, but I'm having difficulty summoning up the momentum to start again. i didn't even bother today and I had my camera with me.

hmm.

Anyway I'm going to finish uploading the 46 tomorrow INCLUDING THE ONES ADRIENNE IS GOING TO UPLOAD and retitle that flickr set. Then we'll see.

And now I moustache you to leave.

3:38 pm - Y'made me untouchable for life
Wondering if it might be worth shopping for a camera in the duty free when I return to the motherland. What's the state/wallet damage of entry level SLRs these days?

Just back from a lovely weekend in Norwich with Maud.
I was expecting a slow journey back, because maintenance work meant we would switch to a coah which would drop us at the end of a tube line.
Then the train hit a deer. But they thought it might have been a person. Also that the train might be damaged. So we sat in a field while engineers came out to look and search for a body. This meant the tube would be closed when we got there so they gave  us a longer slower coach ride to get us into town. Then I had missed my train home by seconds and had to wait half an hour.
FIVE BLOODY HOURS to get home.
I'm so tired.

Heavy Snow 0200 Fri 6 1500 Fri 6
There is a high risk of a severe weather event affecting parts of southern and eastern England on Friday. Periods of snow will be heavy at times and will give accumulations of 5 to 10 cm over large areas and locally 15 to 20 cm over high ground. This is likely to cause disruption to travel.

Good Thing I already had the day off, huh? Guess my plans for a long walk might be off though

11:55 am - HYPOCRISY RAGE

You all may remember a little while ago that buses in London and elsewhere had an ad placed on their sides that said "There's Probably No God. Stop worrying and enjoy life." I believe  it may have been been mentioned in the media once or twice.
There was some fuss over the word 'probably' which was added to the original text so that the ad could comply with advertising standards regarding truthfulness in advertising and unverified claims and so on and so forth.

So what do I see in the paper today?
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23635082-details/God+moves+in+mysterious+ways+%28like+along+your+local+bus+route%29/article.do
Three religous groups have (inevitably) put up anti-atheist ads. The one that caught my eye was that of teh Christian Party: "There definitely is a God. So join the Christian Party and enjoy your life.”

What.
The.
Fuck.

I'll be registering a complaint. Join me?

SCHNEEEEEEEEEE

Holy balls it was like travelling around in a snow globe on the way home from Shepherd's Bush tonight. Fortunately my dinner of roasted partridge provided me with adequate sustenance for survival.
